The Face of Satan;
Things were rolling along just fine until Jennifer and Tessa appeared. Then all hell broke loose for me as I raced through those next pages. The seamless integration of and terrifying experience made my neck hairs bristle. Lordy…a dinner date from Hell. For a while I wondered if you would kill Tessa off. Jennifer was so likable, Anyway, the last third of the book captivated me as no other story could. Thank God for insightful detective work (some awfully likable characters there, too…loved Maddee…quite a bright little cutie). You have woven it together so well! The parallel story lines, character development, the suspense factor…and, of course, your views on current political events…it all works. Nice work, Carroll. Keep those fingers flying!

ANCESTRAL BONZ—THE SERIES
You have had me witnessing the midnight teenager abduction, followed by the practical education of Elizabeth on The Oregon Trail. There have been edge-of seat trials and tribulations while underway to Montana, and the horribly challenging times scraping out a subsistence at their trail’s end-point there. And just when I was lulled into Elizabeth’s and Jamie’s potential for a well-earned and comfortable domestic way of life, the story pulls the rug out from the reader and sends Jamie to WAR! And of course, as she indubitably does, Elizabeth rises to the occasion and its demands–admirably. Then that darned Jamie gets captured, and Elizabeth is expanding with yet another child…OMG. More horrors await Jamie as a POW.
Now, finishing #3, I am left with Jamie’s near-death rescue, and watch him, finally catch faint glimmers of his lost identity. Meanwhile, our heroine, after a spiritual epiphany, vows to comb the South to find this confounded husband. Oh me.

Yes, you have burnished your storytelling abilities impressively, and I am now a committed fan of ANCESTRAL BONZ. First of all, your DESCRIPTIONS put me directly into the tableau at hand. I view the scene, smell the fragrances, hear the sounds, know the moods, and feel the sweat and grime…as well as the tender caresses!
Then, your CHARACTERS are so knowable…poor Agnes and pitiful Eleanor, the competent Ma, Ilene, Joseph, Josiah, and Sally Susanne I now know these people!
Then there is the STORY. The continual twists and turns keep it fresh and irresistible…prompting a can’t-put-it-down reaction for me. I have no idea how you, as the author, place yourself in each scene, making your characters perform exactly as they would in that circumstance…and describe what this looks like, all so convincingly. Yes, I realize there are historic events in these books, but you made these characters talk and move, and feel…and make us know what this looks like. Rather amazing process, actually.
By the way, did I mention I need #4?.
So, your talent and skill leave me breathless, and my hat is off to you…this was SUCH enjoyable reading! Thank you ever so much with your gift…the gift of you!

About Author
My name is Carroll Silvera. I belong to the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), I hold an MBA with an emphasis on health care from Wharton, a BA in architectural and interior design from UCSB, as well as a Master Gardener. I have been acknowledged in two issues of “WHO’S WHO”. I modeled for the Ford agency in New York. I am the mother of two wonderful daughters.
